Bafa Lake Nature Park

Lake BAFA is a valuable lake where rare migratory bird species, connected to Aydın, are staying for a certain period of time. There is a natural structure surrounding beşparmak mountains, with a Mediterranean climate vegetation.

Endemic plant species and rare fungal species have been observed. The deepest point measured in the lake is 20 meters. The length is 16 kilometers.


Lake BAFA is rich in its natural beauty as well as its archaeological richness. Archaeological remains of heraklia and Latmos are located around it. It is protected as a first-degree conservation area for the preservation of historical monuments. There are also areas for picnics by the lake.

It’s a good point for those who like to fish. Carp and freshwater fish emerge from the lake. The lake is very rich in minerals. The fish here are maturing in a short time. Among endemic plant species, there are 10 different types of orchids, turmeric and 500 kinds of plants.

It is one of the stopping points of migratory birds. During spring, migratory birds live here for a month. Bird species include Snake Eagle, Angit, Saz Delice, Kizil şahin, Küçük Kerkenez, Akkuyulu Eagle, Alaca Yali Çapşı, small cormorants, small Balaban, night fisherman, Alaca Heron, Erguvani Heron. Tourists from different countries of the world are watching birds in this region.


Lake BAFA is a first-degree site, so there is no building on it. It is very close to Söke District of Aydın. Hotels, hostels, daily rental houses are located in Söke district. In this way you can reach BAFA lake by walking distance by staying in Söze.


Among the places to visit at Lake BAFA are ancient cities, Five Finger Mountains, Lake Bafa Tour and the Great Menderes River.

Ancient cities heraklia and Latmos are among the most important archaeological finds in the region. The name of the ancient city of heraklia comes from mythology.

It was inspired by the name of Heracles, one of the known names of mythology. It also dominates the lake that has taken over the region. The order, the Persians, Alexander the Great, was conquered by the Seleucids.In ancient times, lake BAFA was connected to the sea.

Over time, due to natural events, Lake BAFA and the sea have been disconnected.In the Middle Ages, important churchmen built churches on small islands located in Lake BAFA. During the war, these monasteries were the sanctuary of the clergy.


To reach Lake BAFA, you must first reach Aydın. Then you will reach Söke district by minibuses in the city center of Aydın. From this point, you can reach BAFA Lake on foot in a period of 45 minutes or by car in 10 minutes.
